Originally from New Hampshire, Ms. Brooks moved to Southwest Florida in 1987. She founded Living Local, an advertising publication that featured area small businesses and nonprofits.
Her focus is to make Florida more affordable by addressing housing, insurance, taxes and every day costs. She favors strengthening state oversight of condominium associations and would expand grant assistance under the My Safe Florida Home program. She supports Amendment 3 Save our Homes from Excessive Property Taxes. Ms. Brooks has pledged not to accept campaign contributions from political action committees (PACs).
